My Star - Lola
Hello, I’m Fenella the canine coach behind Dog-Star.
Growing up surrounded by dogs, I’ve always felt deeply connected to these loyal companions. They offer us so much love and ask for so little in return. Today however, more than ever, they need our help to live in today’s chaotic world.
Although I have enoyed a deep connection with all the dogs in my life, my inspiration for dog training truly began with Lola, my Italian Spinone. Through her, I discovered that training goes far beyond basic commands. It’s a shared journey of learning and understanding, that opens a beautiful channel of communication between dog and guardian. Together, Lola and I explored agility, learned fun tricks, and enjoyed countless adventures. Most importantly, she was a confident, joyful, and well-balanced dog — a solid five stars in my book!
I believe in guiding behaviours that promote safety, confidence, and positive social engagement. It should grounded in empathy and not in rigid obedience. Every dog deserves the freedom to express their personality (even if that sometimes means a flying hat or a missing sock!). Finding that balance between structure and self-expression is, to me, the key to harmony within the family.
Today, I am a certified Family Dog Mediator (FDM), a professional member of CAPDT, and have two years of professional canine coaching experience. I continue to build on my skills and knowledge through mentorship and ongoing education, always striving to help families raise confident, well-adjusted dogs.
